Do you ever wonder what we do all winter? Sit back and enjoy the time off and enjoy for ourselves what Pembrokeshire has to offer? Not a chance. Last year we realised we ought to pull all the stops out to make sure the apartments kept that home from home feel so many of you tell us you come for. We got the paint brushes out, bought some washing machines and called a plumber.
Apartment 3 has had the biggest makeover with new paint colours, carpets and curtains. The red has gone from the living room and the yellow from the hall stairs and landing. That fabulous seaview over St Brides bay now gets the prominence it deserves. We added some new seaside themed ornaments, bought from the local gift shop, to finish off the look.
All of the apartments have had washing machines installed so no more treks back and fore in the Pembrokeshire weather to the laundry room and scrabbling around for the right change. We have had to be a little creative as to where there might be space in one or two of the apartments.
Getting washing machines into the kitchens of apartments 2 and 5 has meant a little more than just a straight forward plumbing job. The dishwasher was moved in apartment 2 to stop the door interfering with the cooker. Finished off with new cupboard doors has left it looking quite smart with a new splash back for the cooker in apartment 5 too.
We know that despite having your accommodation just a stone’s throw from the beach doesn’t mean that you won’t want to take a picnic. The local shop have some lovely picnic ware in and we snaffled some to go into the cool bags. The Haven’s having been awarded plastic free status from Surfer’s Against Sewage has also spurred us on to make sure you need to use as little one use plastic as possible.
And last, but by no means least, at the time of writing the door leading to apartments 4 and 5 is being replaced. Making the entrance look so much better has given us so many ideas as to what to do next year.
