The winter months might seem quiet for holiday apartment owners on the Pembrokeshire Coast, but at Rocksdrift House and Seaview Apartments we’ve been busier than ever. Between managing winter stays, deep cleaning, and property updates as well as handling bookings and administration, these months are far from slow! This winter, we’ve done a major refresh of the interiors of some of our apartments. We’ve added new furniture that complements the sea views and upgraded safety features. Our maintenance schedule fits around guest stays, balancing contractors, cleaning teams, and furniture deliveries. In this blog, we’ll take you behind the scenes of our winter maintenance and show you how we’re preparing all four apartments for another year of perfect holiday experiences on the Pembrokeshire Coast.
Living on the Pembrokeshire coastline means our apartment windows face constant salt-laden sea air. This winter, we’ve focused on these key features that frame our stunning views. Every window hinge in apartments 4 and 5 have been carefully checked, cleaned, and replaced where necessary. This maintenance ensures smooth operation and window safety in all weather. We’ve also upgraded several handles and locking mechanisms. With smooth operation, guests can enjoy the sea breeze or keep out drafts on windier days. It may seem like a small detail, but knowing every window is secure and working perfectly adds comfort while watching the waves crash. We’ve also introduced a regular maintenance schedule for hinge lubrication, helping extend their lifespan in our challenging seaside location.
This winter, we’re giving Apartment 3 a major refresh. The living room is getting a complete update with our signature coastal palette. Soft sea-inspired colours create a calm, welcoming feel while making the most of the natural light from the sea-facing windows. The new paint scheme is the perfect backdrop for our latest addition: two comfy sofas and an easy chair in textured marine blue fabric. These pieces offer cosy spots to relax and extra seating for family gatherings. We’ve chosen durable fabrics that can withstand sandy feet and salty air, all while looking elegant. The new colours flow seamlessly through the space, creating the relaxed coastal vibe our guests love. These updates make Apartment 3 the perfect setting for your Pembrokeshire escape, whether you’re here for a summer adventure or a cosy winter retreat.
After careful planning, we’re excited to announce that both Apartment 2 and Apartment 3 now comfortably accommodate up to seven guests. We didn’t just add extra beds but reconfigured the spaces to keep the open, airy feel while increasing sleeping capacity. In Apartment 2, the third bedroom now has a triple sleeper bunk bed, offering a double bed with a single above, giving much more space than the previous twin beds. In Apartment 3, moving a wardrobe in the twin room made room for an additional single bed. Both apartments still offer plenty of storage and cosy living areas for everyone to relax. This new layout allows extended families or groups of friends to stay together, with everyone enjoying a proper, comfortable bed. Our winter guests, especially families with teenagers, have given great feedback, appreciating the extra space and comfortable sleeping arrangements.
Our winter deep clean goes beyond the usual holiday changeover. Each apartment receives thorough attention over several weeks. This year, we’ve been extra careful with the kitchen inventory. Every cupboard was emptied, cleaned, and checked against our inventory lists to ensure nothing is missing or needs replacing. We’ve added new bakeware, replaced old utensils, and upgraded items to meet guests’ cooking needs. The sea views bring sandy footprints, so we’ve shampooed all carpets to restore them to their best. Curtains, cushions, and soft furnishings were all removed for cleaning – it’s a sight to see the apartments stripped bare! We’ve also cleaned and checked every light fitting and thoroughly cleaned under and behind the furniture. With four apartments to care for, it’s a big task. But there’s something satisfying about seeing everything gleaming and perfectly organised, ready for another season of creating holiday memories.
This winter we’ve enhanced safety features across our apartments to give guests extra peace of mind. New thumb locks have been installed, allowing quick and easy emergency exits without hunting for keys. We’ve also upgraded several internal doors to fire-rated versions, adding an extra layer of protection while maintaining the apartment’s welcoming look. Regular testing of fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and emergency lighting remains a top priority. These updates may not be glamorous, but they’re essential. They ensure you can relax and enjoy the stunning sea views, knowing your safety is always a priority.
Winter at Rocksdrift and Seaview Apartments is far from a downtime – it’s our opportunity to refine, refresh, and ready our coastal sanctuaries for another unforgettable season. From meticulous maintenance to thoughtful interior upgrades, every detail is planned to ensure that our guests enjoy comfort, safety, and the perfect Pembrokeshire escape, no matter the time of year. So, whether you’re dreaming of a summer seaside adventure or a cosy winter retreat, our apartments are waiting to welcome you with open arms and sparkling sea views.
